The President of the Cyprus Land Development Corporation, Mr. Marios Pelekanos, and the Deputy General Director, Mrs. Maria Kyriakidou, participated in the activities of the 2nd International Social Housing Festival held in Lyon, France, from 4 to 8 June 2019.

Within the framework of the Festival the representatives of the Corporation attended:

  • the conference hosted by Housing Europe, themed "This land is ... whose land?", during which important academic speakers, representatives of housing organisations, economists, housing specialists and others, analysed extensively and from various angles "why provision of affordable housing should be at the core of any sustainable land policy",
  • alongside representatives of the Ministry of Interior and the Department of Town Planning and Housing, the European High-level Roundtable on Housing, organized by UNECE in co-operation with Housing Europe, on the subject of joining forces to bridge the gap in affordable, adequate, energy efficient housing.

The representatives of the Corporation also participated in the Annual General Assembly of Housing Europe of which the Corporation is a full member since 2018.

In tandem with representatives of the Ministry of Interior and the Department of Town Planning and Housing, they had bilateral meetings with representatives of the Austrian Federation of Limited-Profit Housing Associations and the Danish Social Housing Sector, with whom they discussed issues of common interest and exchanged views, experiences and good practices regarding the provision of affordable housing.
